Causes of Hay fever:

Hay fever or Allergic Rhinitis is an allergic reaction or condition which impacts majorly the eyes and nasal passage causing congestion affecting the respiratory system. It has affected a large section of people and now it is becoming a global health concern. Hay fever is not caused by any virus. There are multiple reasons that lead to hay fever. It’s an allergic response to outdoor as well as indoor allergens that trigger the attack. Hay fever can be seasonal, perennial or occupational.

The onset of spring and summer is a time when the pollen count is usually high and a time when Hay fever is at its peak especially when it’s warm, humid and windy. Outdoor allergens, such as pollens from trees, grass, weeds, mold and fungal spores.

  • Indoor allergens, such as pet hair, fur, feathers and dust mites
  • Irritants, such as cigarette smoke, perfume, and diesel exhaust.
  • Genetic factors can also be the cause. (if any parent had allergy-related diseases it’s quite likely or possible that the child may develop hay fever.)
